Industrial Build Kortrijk
For this new construction project in Kortrijk, an industrial warehouse made of prefabricated sandwich panels was chosen, in which 450 m² of facade surface was greened using MossCrete.
This project is a strong example of how the greening of grey industrial sites can be incorporated into prefabricated construction in a cost-effective and low-maintenance manner. Industrial sites are often perceived by local residents as an eyesore in the landscape. By applying moss concrete to the facade, a greener appearance is created without compromising the industrial character of the building.
The product used, MossCrete, is a method for greening concrete facades by spraying moss concrete onto the surface and subsequently allowing moss to grow. Within this project, it was applied as a solution to transform a grey, industrial facade into a living, green exterior wall.
In this application, the greening also integrates with rainwater harvesting. As a result, the system contributes not only to a greener appearance but also to a smart and low-maintenance method of greening within an industrial context. With this project, Respyre demonstrates how a new industrial facade can not only be functional but also contribute to a greener and more natural appearance of the built environment. The result is a prefabricated facade solution in which greening has been integrated from the very beginning.
