Green Design Competition in Leiden Promotes Sustainable Roof Solutions

The picturesque city of Leiden is embracing a sustainable future with its latest initiative: Green Design Competition "Van een Lei'en dakje." Scheduled for Monday, April 8th, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the historic Leiden Town Hall, the event aims to foster innovative green roof designs among residents, students, and entrepreneurs.

Hosted by engineering and consultancy firm Antea Group Nederland in collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Municipality of Leiden, Respyre, and PLNT Leiden, the competition seeks to explore the untapped potential of rooftops in Leiden for creating sustainable urban spaces.

Dennis Alberts and Heleen van der Kooij from Antea Group Nederland, along with Paul Vernooy from Stebru and Eduard Beekhuizen from Babylon Daken, will host the event with insightful presentations on sustainable roof design strategies, offering attendees a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.

The competition invites participants to conceptualize and design green roofs for residential or commercial properties within Leiden. With sustainability as the focal point, contestants are encouraged to devise innovative solutions that contribute to the city's environmental resilience and livability.

Exciting Prizes Await

Participants have a chance to win lucrative prizes, including a grand prize of €4000 for the winning design selected by the professional jury. Additionally, the audience favorite will receive a cash prize of €250.
